Sole vs Cofounder:
who actually owns your business?

Cofounder (cofounder.co) is a polished product with real capabilities — this page won't pretend otherwise. But the two products answer one question very differently, and it's the question that matters most the day your business starts working: whose business is it? Every claim below is quoted, sourced, and dated. If we got anything wrong, email hello@getsole.co and we'll correct it within a day.

"Cofounder cannot manage configuration after you graduate." — cofounder.co/pricing, on taking ownership of your own company's infrastructure (as of 2026-07-13)

That sentence is from their pricing page. Your company's code, database, and hosting live in their managed accounts, and taking ownership — "graduating" — is discouraged because the AI stops managing what you own. We built Sole on the opposite principle: you own everything from day one, and the AI keeps working for you anyway.

QuestionSoleCofounder (cofounder.co)
Who owns the infrastructure? You, from day one. Sales go to your own Stripe account. Your site moves to your own free Vercel account in one click — and Sole keeps building it there. Managed GitHub/Supabase/Vercel in their accounts until you "graduate ownership" — which their pricing page advises against.cofounder.co/pricing, 2026-07-13
What happens if you cancel? You keep everything — site, research, plan, brand, customer list. No revenue share, ever. Not stated on their site as of 2026-07-13 — ask them before you build there.
What does it really cost? First build free, no card. Then $50/mo flat with a hard compute cap. Anything that spends money waits for your written approval. "Starting at $20/month usage included" — usage covers AI models, compute, database, ad spend and data purchasing; "you only pay more when your usage exceeds the included amount."cofounder.co/pricing, 2026-07-13
Can you verify their results? Yes — click them. Two live businesses (Burn Trail, Roaster's Round), an unedited build log with the mistakes kept in, and a public archive of every report. "Over 10,650 companies are running on Cofounder" — we could not find a single named, linkable customer business on their site.cofounder.co, 2026-07-13
Who is it for? A person with an idea and no technical background. Plain language, no jargon — your co-founder reports like a human partner. Technical founders — the product speaks MCP, custom APIs, and codebases.
The promise Deliberately narrow: idea → a real business that can take money → its first sale. One promise, provable, every step logged. "Run an entire company with AI" — engineering, sales, marketing, design, finance and ops.cofounder.co, 2026-07-13
When the AI screws up It's published. Our build log keeps the embarrassing entries — including the day our own demo forms were caught fake and fixed. No public failure log as of 2026-07-13.

Where Cofounder is genuinely strong

An honest comparison cuts both ways. If you're a technical founder building a software product — an app with a real database, APIs, custom code — Cofounder's engineering agents go deeper than Sole does today. Their $20 entry price is a lower sticker than our $50 (though our first build is free and our bill can't surprise you). And they're building team features and SOC 2 for bigger companies.

Sole is for something different: real-world businesses — products, services, subscriptions — started by normal people, with the money flowing to them from day one.

The test we invite (and they don't)

Don't believe a comparison page — either of ours. Do this instead: type your idea into the live demo on our homepage and watch real agents research your actual market in 60 seconds. Then decide. That's the whole philosophy: proof, not promises.

Your first build is free. No card.

One sentence in. A real business out — research, brand, plan, live website. Yours, entirely, from minute one.
